A fatal collision between a snow plow and two pedestrians in Barrie’s south end last week still has police seeking answers and looking for assistance from the public.
Two women were struck by a privately operated farm-type tractor that was heading west on Mapleview Drive and turning south onto Veterans Drive, shortly after 12:30 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 17.
A 26-year-old Bradford woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the other woman, also 26 and from Bradford, was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with serious injuries.
Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that a Spanish translator will be used to interview the woman in hospital in order to figure out what happened.
“This is a very complex investigation and will require the use of a translator to assist with interviewing the pedestrian who survived the collision and was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Leon said.
The 22-year-old woman driving the plow, which was equipped with a snow-removal blade, was taken to hospital suffering from shock.
