Barrie police are asking for the public’s help after a break-and-enter that took place at a residence on Dec. 18 in southwest Barrie, in the area of Mapleton Avenue and Veterans Drive.

Police responded to a reported break-in that occurred in the evening hours and is believed to have been carried out by two suspects.

After entering the home, the suspects stole gaming consoles, jewelry, and other personal items.

“There were multiple consoles. They were ones that were for personal use. It was personal jewelry as well,” said Jennett Mays, communications co-ordinator with Barrie police.

There were also a large quantity of South Korean currency taken. At current exchange rates, $1 Canadian is worth approximately 850 South Korean won.

“That isn’t something that would be commonly seen. It was a large quantity, but when you look at the exchange rate it wasn’t as large a quantity as it might seem,” said Mays.

“We hope the South Korean currency and the gaming consoles might stick out in people’s minds, if they have more information,” she added.

Investigating officers are asking anyone who may have information on this break and enter to contact Det. Const. J. Dorion at 705-725-7025, ext. 2660, or [email protected].

Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.
