Snowmobiler ejected after crashing into tree, suffers life-threatening injuries

OPP say 31-year-old man was not wearing helmet at the time of the crash, which happened just after midnight

A man driving this snowmobile, without a helmet, left the roadway and crashed into a tree shortly after midnight last night.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers along with Muskoka EMS responded to a single snowmobile collision on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at 12:07 a.m. that occurred on Redwood Road in Muskoka Lakes Township.

The snow vehicle was travelling westbound when it left the roadway and collided with a tree, ejecting the 31-year-old male, from New Hamburg, Ontario. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and has life threatening injuries.

The OPP technical collision investigators and collision reconstructionist attended the scene and conducted an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Snowmobiling is a popular winter activity in Muskoka and you must ensure some basic safety measures are taken. Police are reminding anyone who is operating a motorized snow vehicle to wear an approved snowmobile helmet.
