Barrie Police Street Crime Unit began a preliminary investigation in late 2016 after receiving information into a possible drug trafficking ring.
On Saturday, Mar. 11, 2017 the investigation led the Street Crime Unit along with the Tactical Services Unit to conduct a high risk vehicle stop in the area of Bayview Drive and Little Avenue, in the City of Barrie. The three males that were inside the vehicle were arrested and the following items were located:
- 13 grams of Heroin
- 10 grams of Cocaine
- A small quantity of Marijuana
- A small quantity of Hashish
- A quantity of Cash
The 2008 Jeep Compass used in the commission of the offence was also seized by police.
A 24-year-old Barrie male was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Heroin
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana Resin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
- Fail to Comply with Probation
A 38-year-old Barrie male was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana Resin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
A 38-year-old Barrie male was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Heroin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Cocaine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana Resin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
On Sunday, Mar. 12, 2017, in relation to the same investigation, a warrant was executed on a residence on Carol Road, in the City of Barrie. Two males and a female were arrested and the following was seized:
- 150 grams of powder and crack cocaine
- 14 grams of Marijuana
- 11 grams of Khat
- Large quantity of cash
- Digital Scale
A 61-year-old man and 51-year-old female who reside at the residence where the warrant was executed, as well as a 45-year-old Barrie man were charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Khat
It is believed the street value of the drugs seized in relation to this investigation exceeds $20,000. Investigators feel this seizure and the arrests of these six individuals will result in a major dent in the drugs reaching the streets of Barrie.
