Single vehicle collision resulting in power outage under investigation

ESSA TOWNSHIP - At approximately 3:40 pm on Monday, November 20, 2017, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received information of a vehicle that had struck a hydro pole on the Third Line, South of the Fifth Sideroad in Essa Township.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle involved was described as a black pick-up truck with a ladder on the roof. The vehicle was observed entering the ditch on the east side of the roadway and then hitting a hydro pole. The vehicle then quickly fled the scene.

The damage to the hydro pole was significant enough that it caused local residents to be without power for several hours until it was repaired.

This investigation is continuing and any person with information regarding the person(s) and vehicle responsible or witnessed the collision, is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 1-888-310-1122, or Nottawasaga OPP at (705) 434-1939.
