A Severn Township man was killed Friday afternoon following a crash involving a car and a dump truck on Quarry Road in Severn Township.

Orillia OPP say the driver of the car, John Bull, 60, of Severn Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred just before noon on Friday.

While the crash occurred at the intersection of Quarry Road and St. Amant Road in Severn, the collision wasn't "intersection-related," said Orillia OPP Const. Ted Dongelmans.

The dump truck driver was not injured, he said.

"The car ended up off the roadway and in the ditch," said Dongelmans. "It's a tragic one as he was fairly close to home."

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Quarry Road was closed for several hours while OPP Technical Collision Investigation members investigated the scene.

Anyone witnessed the collision or has information can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
