Monday’s collision involving a pedestrian in the city's south end is still being investigated and a 77-year-old Barrie man is now at a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.

Around 2:15 p.m., Oct. 4, police responded to the scene after a single vehicle struck the man on Hurst Drive.

The man was rushed to a local hospital, but Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said the man has since been airlifted to a hospital in Toronto.

“The vehicle left the roadway and struck the pedestrian for reasons that are undetermined at this time,” Leon told BarrieToday.

"No charges have been laid as the investigation is ongoing," he added.

Hurst Drive was closed for approximately four hours from Little Avenue to Cox Mill Road for the investigation.
