A single-vehicle crash in the city's south end involving a large dump truck has closed a portion of Ardagh Road this afternoon.

Ardagh Road has been closed between Wright Drive/Gran'ts Way and Hawkins Drive/Eaglestone Lane while the Barrie police traffic unit investigates.

An official with Simcoe County Paramedics said the driver of the dump truck was making a right turn onto Ardagh Road with the truck's bucket raised when it caught the power lines and rolled over.

No one was transported to hospital and no serious injuries were reported.

A Barrie police spokesperson said Alectra crews were also called to the scene.

Alectra's website is not reporting any outages in the area.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area, but how long the closure will remain in place is unclear.

As of 3:30 p.m., a heavy tow was on scene, but the dump truck remained on its side.

BarrieToday will have more information as it becomes available.
