A pickup truck and trailer were stolen and recovered on the same day in Barrie on Monday.

At 6:57 a.m. on April 15, the overnight theft was reported to Barrie police. Investigators say the thieves had entered the rear compound of a pool company located on Anne Street South.

From the investigation that followed, it is believed that those responsible were able to access a fenced in compound where the 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and dump-style trailer were parked sometime after 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said the truck and trailer were then driven through a locked gate, which caused approximately $3,000 damage to the entrance.

Later that day at 8:38 a.m., police received a call about an abandoned pickup truck which did not belong in the Brock Street parking lot where it was located.

A little more than an hour later, police received a call about a dump trailer which had been left at a residence located on Big Bay Point Road, east of Yonge Street.

With information received from concerned citizens, police determined the truck and trailer were the combination that had earlier been reported stolen from the Anne Street business.

“The owner of the truck and trailer was notified and, although his day started off in a rather bizarre way, he was able to attend both scenes, retrieve his stolen property and salvage what could have been a very disastrous day for both him and his business,” police stated in a news release.
