Rabbit killed with bow and arrow in Everett-area yard

Members of the Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are aware of an incident that happened in the Everett, Adjala-Tosorontio area.

On May 19, police received a call regarding a rabbit that had been injured by an arrow.

The complainant’s backyard area is open and consists of bushes and trees along the row of houses. There are no houses at the rear of the property.

The rabbit was located injured and precautions were taken to save the rabbit. Unfortunately, the injuries were too severe and the rabbit did not survive.

Nottawasaga OPP is reminding the public to be mindful of hunting season time frames and also be mindful of where you are hunting and if it is legal to do so.

Cottontail hunting season runs from Sept. 15 to March 31.

If you choose to hunt with a bow and arrow please do your research and ensure that you are using approved equipment as well. Some arrows are not legal for hunting.

A number of fines could be imposed depending on the situation, ranging from around $150 to $300.
