Police wake driver. Impaired charges follow

INNISFIL - On Saturday, June 24, 2017, around 8:20 p.m., a concerned citizen called the South Simcoe Police Service to report a possibly impaired driver. The witness described the vehicle and its location for responding officers, who located the vehicle parked and running in a gas station parking lot. The officer had to wake the driver and turn off the ignition.

After a short investigation, a 32-year-old Innisfil man was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mgs. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded. He will appear in court in July.

Once again, a vigilant citizen has contributed to the safety of the community. Thanks to this witness, we were able to remove an impaired driver from our streets. You can help by calling 9-1-1 if you see a suspected impaired driver.

Mischief under $5,000

INNISFIL - On Sunday, June 25, 2017, around 11 p.m., a woman was sitting in her car in an Alcona parking lot. A suspect, whom the victim did not know, suddenly jumped on the hood of her car causing damage. The victim approached a nearby constable and reported the incident.

The suspect, who was still at the scene, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and public intoxication. The 35-year-old Innisfil woman will appear in
court in July.
