Police seek suspect in two gas station theft investigations (update)

The occurrences took place a week apart at the same gas station at the same time of day

Jan. 22 update

On Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 a 29-year-old Barrie male was arrested and charged with the two thefts after police received information in regards to the identification of the suspect. Barrie Police would like to thank the public in for their assistance in identifying the male.

Barrie Police Service is currently investigating two recent occurrences of theft of gas by the same vehicle and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

On Tuesday, Jan. 9 and Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, a black Jeep Cherokee attended the Petro Canada located at 175 Cundles Rd. E., in the City of Barrie. In both occurrences the vehicle entered and exits the station from the Ferris Lane entrance at 4:20 p.m. pumping gas without making an attempt to pay. It is believed the vehicle may be a rental from the GTA, however the investigation is still ongoing.

Description of vehicle:

  • 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Black
  • Licence Plate: CABD 453

Suspect description:

  • Male, white
  • 20 to 25-years-old
  • 160-170lbs
  • Short hair and clean shaven
  • Wearing a dark bomber type coat, dark jeans (blue, black), a baseball hat and tan Timberland boots
