Police seek suspect in Toys R Us theft

Police report that $600 worth of goods were stolen

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported at a business located in the City of Barrie.

On Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, shortly after 4 p.m., police responded to the Toys R Us located on Bayfield Street after a male suspect entered the store at approximately 1:42 p.m. and proceeded to the Electronics Department. He then removed an Xbox One S 1 TB (all digital version) from the packaging it was in and concealed it the vest he was wearing.

 The male was then observed selecting a Transformer Megatron and again removed it from the packaging and hid it in his vest. He then left the store without paying for the items which are valued in excess of $600.

The suspect’s actions were all captured on the store’s video surveillance system and from that video, the person being sought is described as:

  • Male, white, approximately 35 years old, clean shaven, medium build, wearing a black hooded jacket, a black vest, a white sweater with a black stripe across the chest, dark jeans, hiking boots and a black and white Under Armour baseball cap
