Police seek suspect in gas theft investigation

Barrie Police Service is looking to identify a male suspect after he pumped a tank of gas in a vehicle and drove off without paying.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at approximately 5 p.m. a male suspect was captured on video surveillance pumping $60 worth of gas at Petro Canada located at 175 Cundles Rd. E., in the City of Barrie. 

After filling his tank, he immediately left without paying for his fuel. When the video was reviewed, the front licence plate was clearly visible as CAAA 224 which returned as unattached from an address in Waterloo. The last owner of that plate was contacted and it was determined he was not a suspect in the incident. 

Suspect description:

  • Male, white
  • 25 to 30 years old
  • Approximately 6' with a thin build
  • Wearing a black baseball hat with a white logo, white t-shirt and black pants

Vehicle description:

  • Dark grey
  • Volkswagon
  • Front Licence Plate: CAAA 224
