Barrie police are searching an area near the Southshore Centre this morning for a possible missing toddler.

A motorist called police at 7:46 a.m., Monday, after passing a young child walking on the median of Lakeshore Drive heading toward Minet’s Point.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said when the driver circled back, the child was gone.

“Police immediately responded to the area and continue to search for the child. We are following up on a few leads,” Leon told BarrieToday. “We haven’t received any calls for a missing child, so it would seem odd that someone hasn’t woken up to realize a little one is missing.”

The child’s description is a white male, approximately three years old, with blonde hair, blue eyes, blue pyjamas, and blue rain boots.

He was last seen at 7:46 a.m. walking eastbound along the grassy median on Lakeshore Drive toward Minet’s Point.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.

“Even if it was your child and the situation has been resolved, please call us so we know and can stop the search,” said Leon.
