Police say road rage turned to assault

Barrie Police Service received multiple calls after a road rage incident turned into an assault in a parking lot in the south-east end of Barrie Thursday.

On Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. multiple calls were received for a disturbance in a parking lot on Ferndale Drive South, in the City of Barrie. The investigation revealed one male became irate at another male after he felt he was driving too slowly.

When the victim pulled into a parking lot, the angry driver followed actually rear-ending the small vehicle in front of him. The two then became engaged in a verbal dispute outside of their vehicles.  

The argument soon became physical resulting in the victim sustaining injuries requiring medical attention. Both parties were on scene when police arrived and a 59-year-old Innisfil man was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

A 54-year-old Barrie male has been charged with assault.
