Police respond to swerving vehicle with a missing tire. Driver charged with impaired

INNISFIL - On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, around 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a call about a car travelling north on Yonge Street, swerving and without a tire. The witness reports seeing sparks coming from the vehicle. Police located and stopped the vehicle on the 7th Line of Innisfil. While speaking to the driver, the officer noticed he was unsteady on his feet and a strong odour of alcohol was detected.

The driver was arrested and taken to the station for further testing. A 61-year-old man from Newmarket was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mgs. He will be appearing in court to answer to these charges in mid-December. The man's car was impounded and he was given an immediate 90-day licence suspension.
