Barrie police captured a pair of robbery suspects — aged 16 and 22 — in short order after a heist at a north-end store Saturday.

On April 13 just after 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a Grove Street East plaza, police stated in a news release.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with an employee of the store that had been robbed and who had been injured during the incident, according to police.

After tending to the victim, police say they viewed video surveillance, which assisted investigating officers with descriptions of the suspects who were wanted for the occurrence.

In just under 25 minutes, police located the suspects, and a 22-year-old Barrie man and a 16-year-old youth of no fixed address were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where the investigation continued.

The two were jointly charged with robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police said the 16-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was also charged with failing to comply with a release order from an incident which occurred last Thursday.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.

Both of the accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear today for bail hearings.
