Police looking for suspect in air conditioner fraud

Investigators with the Barrie Police Fraud Unit are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect responsible for defrauding a local furnace company utilizing a fraudulent credit card.

On Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, investigators believe a local cab company had been hired to deliver an air conditioning unit to a condo building on Big Bay Point Road.

It was at this location the suspect had been caught on video surveillance waiting for the delivery after gaining access to the building using an unidentified object.

Upon delivery the suspect is captured on video surveillance unloading the air conditioning unit from the cab into the front lobby of the building. Minutes later the suspect loads the large unit into his vehicle and leaves the area. The vehicle is believed to be a blue 2010 or similar Jeep Compass.

The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as;

  • Male, white
  • Heavy build
  • Dark hair, goatee
  • Wearing a black “North Face” jacket, cargo pants and black boots.
