Police look to identify suspect in lengthy robbery investigation

The Barrie Police Investigative Services is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a robbery suspect following a lengthy investigation.

On Thursday, Dec. 17, 2017 just before 10:30 p.m., police were called to Anne’s Variety located at 68 Dunlop St. W. in the City of Barrie for a report of a robbery. A male suspect had entered the store and (allegedly) demanded money. The employee complied, although when confronted by a second employee, the suspect fled store and ran northbound on Mary Street. Investigators located the suspects clothing on Mary Street and seized it for DNA testing.

The victims did not sustain any physical injuries and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white
  • Slim build, 5’8”
  • Armed with a knife
  • Wearing a black hood, face disguised with a white cloth, dark grey “Team Canada” three-quarter-length zip-up hockey sweater with red stripes, dark pants, dark boots and carrying a black bag
