Emergency crews were called to the parking lot at the Quality Inn on Hart Drive, Sunday afternoon, for a reported gunshot.

City police are looking for two men after a gunshot was fired in the parking lot behind a Hart Drive hotel Sunday afternoon in Barrie.

While no one was shot, police say a man was later transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) with a serious leg injury.

Police were called at 3:43 p.m., Aug. 20, and criminal investigation division detectives determined that a 40-year-old man, originally from Windsor, was injured after being robbed by two other men who were waiting in the parking lot in what’s described as a silver, four-door Kia Forte.

Police said the meeting appeared to be pre-arranged, as the two men in the parked car left it and approached the victim’s car.

This interaction became violent, according to police, as one of the suspects removed items from the victim’s car, while the other, who was armed with a gun, fought with the victim.

A shot was fired by the man armed with the gun, as the victim reversed his car across the parking lot and struck some fencing.

Police say seized video surveillance is assisting investigators, who have confirmed the suspects fled west on Hart Drive.

The victim was taken to local hospital for his leg injury that involved reversing his car.

Barrie police believe there is no risk to public safety.

Police are trying to identify two suspects who are wanted in this occurrence.

The man armed with the gun is described as having a dark complexion, a thin build, shoulder-length black hair with dreadlocks, a black beard, and a mustache. He was wearing a black baseball cap backwards with a white logo at the back and on the brim, a black hooded sweatshirt, black jogging pants with a white logo on the upper left thigh, along with white and black running shoes.

The other man, who was driving the Kia, is described as white, with a heavy build, bald, wearing a blue T-shirt, grey shorts and black running shoes.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or video that may assist detectives is asked to contact Barrie police at 705-725-7025.
