Police investigate graffiti at local school (4 photos)

Graffiti was painted on St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic School over the weekend, police say

South Simcoe Police Service is seeking the public's help after a Bradford elementary school was vandalized over the weekend.

On Monday, June 7, 2021 at approximately 6:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic School on Miller Park Avenue regarding obscene graffiti spray-painted at the east side entrance. The investigation has determined the damage was done over the weekend.

Member of the school community Nelia Ferreira saw the graffiti and says she feels devastated about it.

"I'm disgusted and can't believe this is what our community has come to," she said.

"To the individuals who thought this was a fun night out, congratulations. If you thought you're message would result in a positive movement change, it's not. Consider being an active community member and use your energy for some good."

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, has security camera video or any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Constable Ranjit Sandhu at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141, ext. 1409, [email protected] or contact Crime Stoppers.

Graffiti is the illegal defacing of property by painting or otherwise marking it with words, pictures or symbols. This vandalism has a negative effect on our communities and wastes tax dollars for clean-up. If you are the victim of a vandal, report the incident to police immediately.
