Police investigate fatal collision in Essa Township

ESSA TOWNSHIP - Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at approximately 9:12 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision on Scotch Line, Essa Township. 

The collision involved a Pontiac Sunfire traveling northbound and a Honda Civic traveling southbound on Scotch Line when the two vehicles collided head-on.

The Nottawasaga OPP were assisted at the scene by Essa and New Tecumseth Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics and OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigations (TTCI).

The 43-year-old male driver of the Pontiac Sunfire was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the female passenger of the Honda Civic was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is still ongoing.
