A Wasaga Beach woman is facing a fraud charge after police were asked to investigate a situation with a Collingwood business.

According to a news release, members of the crime unit from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police charged 39-year-old Sara Gray of Wasaga Beach with one count of fraud over $5,000.

The police investigation began in February 2023 and involved a complaint about a former employee of a Collingwood business who allegedly altered payroll data so that funds deposited into the former employee's bank account.

Police say the business was defrauded more than $210,000 over about three years.

Gray has not yet faced these charges in court, but is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 9.
