Police charge Innisfil driver for going nearly twice the speed limit

On Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Yonge Street north of Line 4 in Innisfil. A speed measurement was obtained of 116 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone in the village of Churchill.

The officer conducted a traffic stop. As a result, 39-year-old Satraj Toor of Innisfil was charged with stunt driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.

Engaging in stunt driving and speeding puts the lives of motorists and pedestrians at risk. We all have a role to play in keeping our communities safe. Drivers can do their part by slowing down and obeying posted speed limits.
