The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after an attempted theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at 5 p.m., Barrie police responded to the Zehrs located on Bryne Drive after a female shopper concealed an Oral B toothbrush in a tan-coloured purse and (allegedly) walked out of the store without paying for it.

Once outside the store, a loss prevention officer approached the shopper and was able to reacquire the stolen toothbrush before the shopper left the area on foot, only to get into a small blue-coloured car and drive away.

The suspect is described as female white, 30-40 years old, 5'4"- 5'6", 140lbs - 160lbs, dark jacket, white hoody, big black boots, blue hair with brown roots, tan colour purse and a possible small tattoo under right ear.
