Emergency crews administer CPR to man at Heritage Park

''We saw him lying on the ground in an awkward way. It looked like he fell off the bench to the ground,' says man who witnessed incident at Barrie lakeshore

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, emergency crews responded for a man in distress at Heritage Park in downtown Barrie, across the street from Meridian Place.

A Barrie police officer at the scene told BarrieToday that the only information available was that the man appeared to be in his 70s and he was by himself when the call came in.

Mandip, who was a witness and who found the man in distress, was walking in the area with his wife at the time.

“We saw him lying on the ground in an awkward way. It looked like he fell off the bench to the ground," he said.

Emergency crews performed CPR on the man for several minutes before loading him into an ambulance. The man's condition is unknown.

BarrieToday will have more information as it becomes available.
