Morning crash leads to road closure on St. Vincent St.

St. Vincent Street closed from Cundles Road East to Meadowlark Road for clean-up and collision investigation

Barrie police are asking motorists to avoid St. Vincent Street from Cundles Road East to Meadowlark Road this morning following a crash.

The section of road has been closed for clean-up and the collision investigation. 

According to Barrie police, the crash was reported at 3:41 a.m., Jan. 19. 

Upon arrival at the scene, police say they located a vehicle that had struck a hydro pole. A short time later, the suspect driver was located and arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Barrie Police Service Headquarters where the investigation continued.

A 23-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood-alcohol content over .80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Feb. 1

Police say the collision caused "significant damage" to the hydro pole. Alectra was on the scene to make the necessary repairs.
