TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO AND ESSA TOWNSHIPS - The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to extend our most sincere appreciation and gratitude to members of our community who came together to support our Auxiliary Unit Easter Food Drives.

On Saturday, March 27, 2021 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga OPP Auxiliary Unit held a food drive in preparation for the Easter holidays in front of Zehrs and Giant Tiger in Alliston, New Tecumseth.

On Saturday, April 3, 2021 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga OPP Auxiliary Unit held a second food drive in preparation for the Easter holidays in front of Sobeys in Angus, Essa Township.

During both events, our dedicated Auxiliary members were outside collecting non-perishable food items, cash, and gift certificates to support extra demands that our local food banks face during the Easter long weekend.

Due to the overwhelming support and generosity of our community members, the Auxiliary Unit was able to deliver and donate over 2,477 pounds of food and over $2,799 in gift cards and cash donations to our local food banks. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success!

"We would like to thank the generous members of our community for helping to contribute to make every families' Easter meal a special one. With the last year being what it has been, many people have fallen on tough times, and your generosity is very much appreciated. We certainly wouldn't have been able to do this without the tremendous support of members of our community, thank you so much!" - A/Sergeant Matthew Corbett, Nottawasaga OPP Auxiliary staff sergeant
