Man, woman arrested after Sunday evening robbery

ORILLIA – On Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a robbery at a local business on Mississaga Street in Orillia.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. police were dispatched to an Orillia business on Mississaga Street with reports of a robbery. Before police arrived on the scene the suspects had left, however a description was given to responding officers.

Officers responding to the call saw a male and female in the area matching the descriptions of the suspects. As a result of police investigation the male and female were arrested.

Police have charged Orillia resident, Terry Goodchild, age 40, with the following offences:

  • Robbery Contrary to Section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Obstruct Peace Officer Contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police have also charged Orillia resident, Meghan Walsh, age 29, with the following offences:

  • Robbery Contrary to Section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Obstruct Peace Officer Contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Breach of Probation Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing on Feb. 6, 2017 in Barrie.
