Man charged with arson in Clearview house fire

OPP say two residents were able to escape the home uninjured; Damage estimated at $300,000 following Feb. 9 blaze

CLEARVIEW TWP. - Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Clearview Fire Department were called to a residential fire on the 6th Concession of Nottawasaga, Clearview Township, just before noon on Feb. 9, 2022.

The two residents who were in the home at the time of the fire had escaped prior to the arrival of emergency services and were not injured.

The damage to the residence is estimated at $300,000.

As a result of a joint investigation between the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) an arrest was made on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.

Dean Doucet, 30 years old, of Clearview Township has been arrested and charged with

  • Arson - Disregard for human life

Doucet was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario court of Justice in Collingwood, and was remanded into custody.
