One person is in police custody following an attempted armed robbery Thursday night on High Street in downtown Barrie.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Feb. 16, Barrie police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at a fast-food business.

Police say they were provided detailed descriptions of the culprits involved and were able to locate one of the suspects nearby as he walked away from the area on Maple Street.

Police say this male suspect was allegedly found to be in possession of a weapon that was used during the attempted robbery and, as a result, was arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.

During the robbery attempt, police say no money was obtained and the customer service representative was not injured.

The second male suspect remains outstanding and his identity is unknown.

The accused, a 31-year-old from Barrie and of no fixed address, was charged with robbery (attempt) and fail to comply with a release order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was scheduled to take place today.
