A 45-year-old man is being treated in hospital for life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash this morning.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that emergency crews responded to call at about 9:10 a.m., Tuesday, regarding a serious collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

According to Leon, the pickup truck was stopped westbound at the lights at County Road 90 and Townline Road/County Road 27 when the driver of the motorcycle collided with back of the truck.

“The conditions were a little wet in that area from a little bit of drizzle and it would appear the operator of the motorcycle lost control, was ejected from the bike, slid along the pavement, and struck the rear of the stopped pickup truck,” Leon said.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 45-year-old Listowel man, was transported to local hospital with what Leon called “life-threatening injuries.”

The Barrie police traffic unit remains on scene. The area has been closed off as the investigation continues.

City police say Townline Road/County Road 27 is closed to northbound traffic at Ardagh Road for the on-scene investigation. County Road 90 is also closed from Miller Drive to George Johnston Road.
