K-9 unit tracks down Barrie man who fled Orillia OPP

Dogs were able to track down the 31-year-old, who was driving a stolen car; He is facing an array of criminal charges

A Barrie man led Orillia OPP on a bit of a wild goose chase earlier this week.

The OPP had to call in its canine unit to help track down the run-away suspect, after he was pulled over by the police.

The suspect was driving a stolen vehicle and fled police, running into the forested area along Murphy Road across from Walmart.

The dogs were deployed and they tracked down the suspect a short time later on Fairgrounds Road.

Gaston Gagnon, 31, faces a host of charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with a release order.

The Barrie man is being held for a bail hearing.
