Investigation leads to numerous drug, weapons charges for two Barrie residents

The pair were arrested after they were observed allegedly trafficking from a rental vehicle

After a week long investigation, Barrie Police Street Crime Unit has charged two people with drug and firearms related offences.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, the investigation concluded with a male and female arrested after (they were) observed (allegedly) trafficking from their rental vehicle. Upon arrest, detectives located a loaded automatic handgun as well as a various quantities of crack and powder cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and a quantity of cash.

Seized Items:

  1. Loaded .38 caliber automatic handgun
  2. Quantity of crack and powder cocaine
  3. Quantity of fentanyl
  4. Quantity of heroin
  5. Over $7,500 in Canadian currency

Charged are:

29-year-old Barrie female:
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm
    •    Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
    •    Occupation of a motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
    •    Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
    •    Cary firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
    •    Carry concealed weapon
    •    Possession of controlled substance - cocaine
    •    Possession of controlled substance - heroin
    •    Possession of controlled substance - other drugs
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking x3
    •    Fail to comply with probation order x2
    •    Fail to comply with recognizance x3
    •    Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order x2

28-year-old Barrie male:
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm
    •    Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
    •    Occupation of a motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
    •    Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
    •    Cary firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
    •    Carry concealed weapon
    •    Possession of controlled substance - cocaine
    •    Possession of controlled substance - heroin
    •    Possession of controlled substance - other drugs
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking x3
    •    Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order x2  

It is believed the street value of the drugs and cashed seized in relation to this investigation exceeds $10,000.

Investigators feel this seizure and the arrests of these individuals will result in a substantial dent in the drugs reaching the streets of Barrie.
