TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received indication of a violent act that may take place at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham.
Investigation revealed that threatening Instagram messages were posted by a youth from the New Tecumseth area, indicating that a violent act may occur at the school.
Following a thorough police investigation, a youth has been arrested and charged with:
• Utter threats
• Weapons dangerous
• Mischief
• False messages
There is no longer a concern for public safety and the accused remains in custody and will be attending a bail hearing on Feb. 20, 2018.
