Innisfil woman with young child in the car accused of impaired driving

Police say her breath tests resulted in readings of well over twice the legal limit for alcohol

INNISFIL - A 32-year-old Innisfil woman was charged with impaired driving and over 80 after police stopped a vehicle with a young child on board.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019 around 7:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers received a call about an impaired driver in Innisfil and conducted a vehicle stop. A woman was driving the vehicle with a young child properly secured in a car seat. After failing a roadside screening device test, the driver was transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings of well over twice the legal limit for alcohol.  

A 32-year-old Innisfil woman was charged with operation while impaired and over 80. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.

This particularly disturbing case of impaired driving is just the latest example of selfish motorists who choose to put our citizens, including young children, at risk. We want to commend this caller, and everyone who calls us, to report suspected impaired drivers. Together we can make a difference.
