Impaired, drug possession charges laid during busy police weekend

Impaired driving

BRADFORD - On Oct. 28, 2017, just before 1 a.m., South Simcoe Police received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver. Officers located the suspect vehicle and the driver was given a roadside screening device test, resulting in a fail.

After further testing at the station, a 38-year-old female from Springwater was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mgs. She will appear in court early November of this year.

Possession for the purpose of trafficking

INNISFIL - As a result of a month long investigation with South Simcoe Police Service's Community Mobilization and Engagement Unit (CMEU), Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) and uniform officers, a warrant was executed on an Alcona residence on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.

A quantity of cocaine and marijuana was seized as a result of the search. CMEU members along with uniform and with the assistance of Barrie City Police Canine Unit arrested two youths for possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking drugs.

One of the youths was also charged with breach of probation and the other had an added charge of fail to comply with his recognizance. The investigation is continuing.
