Barrie's Hillcrest Public School was placed in a hold and secure this morning due to a suspected impaired driver in the area.
The hold and secure has since been lifted at the Toronto Street school.
The police investigation had begun prior to the start of the school day.
Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday there was the possibility of an impaired driver in the area who had abandoned his vehicle. The canine unit was brought in to search for the suspect.
"He has eluded police at this time," Leon said.
