workplace accident, calls for service

The following is a news release issued by the South Simcoe Police Service:

On Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, just before 5 p.m., South Simcoe police responded to a business in the Town of Innisfil for a report of a workplace accident. Officers assisted the Simcoe County Paramedics with victims care, then identified witnesses to the accident. The victims were attempting to move a disabled truck into the work bay using a forklift with chains attached to the truck. One of the chain links broke causing the rest of the chain to whip back toward the workers. Two workers were injured as a result.

Both workers were taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. The case was taken over by an investigator from the Ontario Ministry of Labour.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, South Simcoe Police responded to 82 calls for service, pro-active traffic stops and community service events.
