impaired driving, calls for service

On Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at 11 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a call concerning a male who looks to be sleeping in the driver seat of his vehicle with his foot on the gas in a parking lot of a business located on the 5th Sideroad in the Town of Innisfil.  When police arrived, security officers had already removed the male from his car and placed him under arrest.

The roadside screening device test was conducted resulting in a FAIL.

A 57-year-old man from Barrie was charged with Over 80 mgs and Impaired Driving. 

Just prior to 6:30 a.m. on Friday 23 February, South Simcoe Police were alerted to a threat made via social media involving a weapon. Officer learned that a Snapchathad been observed which showed two youths, one which appeared to be holding a gun. There was a caption attached regarding going to school. Police, with the assistance of the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) officials were able to identify the two males in the online post. The families of the boys were contacted and the youths were presented at the police station prior to the start of school. The weapon displayed in the post was not real.
Both youths have been processed and are now before the Justice System. The SCDSB has been in contact with the police and will take appropriate action as well.
At no point was there an immediate threat to any students resulting from the post.


On Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, South Simcoe Police responded to 69 calls for service, pro-active traffic stops and community service events.
