Frazer, a German Boxer, was taken from his family home on Orwell Crescent in an early morning break and enter on Nov. 23, 2021. On Dec. 1, police said he had been located and returned.

Frazer has been located and returned to his owner, Barrie police announced this afternoon.

“Our detectives were out investigating, doing what investigators do best, and they got some information, followed up on it and they located the dog and were able to return it to its owner," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday

Leon said he got the call around 1:35 p.m., Wednesday, so it would have been shortly after the noon hour that the dog was found.

"(Frazer) is OK, from what I understand, happy to be reunited with the gentleman who resides in the home on Orwell Crescent," he added.

Police say the investigation continues and no other details have been released.

"I’m sure if the dog would talk it would be an interesting tale he could tell," Leon said. "If he could talk he’d probably make a good witness."

The German boxer was stolen from an Orwell Crescent home on Nov. 23 when city police say two women forced themselves into the home and grabbed the dog before fleeing in a nearby vehicle. When they tried to flee, a neighbour who tried to intervene was dragged by the vehicle.

The neighbour, who had been shovelling and heard the commotion, was taken to local hospital and treated for minor injuries after being dragged for about 30 metres before being able to free himself.

There is no word on any charges.

"We hope to have an update perhaps tomorrow or in the following days," Leon said. "The nice thing is when the family sits down to have their dinner tonight, the dog will be there with them.”
