Five men charged with breaking into eight residences

A number of watches, jewelry and collectible items were seized, along with evidence linking the accused to the break and enters

York Regional Police have charged five men with breaking into eight residences across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force began a residential break-and-enter investigation in August 2019.

Collaboration with break-and-enter investigators at #1, #2, #4 and #5 Districts, as well as investigators with the South Simcoe Police Service, Barrie Police, Peel Regional Police, the Halton Regional Police Service, the Cobourg Police Service the Toronto Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA).

These partnerships were crucial in the success of the investigation. Over the following months, evidence was gathered in multiple incidents and on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, five suspects were placed under arrest by investigators. 

As part of the investigation, search warrants were executed on the accuseds’ vehicles and place of temporary residence. A number of watches, jewelry and collectible items were seized, along with evidence linking the accused to the break and enters.

Charged:

  • Angelo Eduardo Durango Rincon, 41, Colombia
  • Carlos Orlando Alberracin Sanchez, 38, Colombia
  • Jhony Stid Oyola Sanabria, 33, Colombia
  • Jafre Alexander Salinas Angel, 33, Colombia
  • Jerson Sanchez, 22, City of Toronto

Charges Include:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of break and enter instruments
  • Conspiracy to commit and indictable offence

The five accused are facing more than 45 criminal charges and the investigation is ongoing. CBSA and York Regional Police continue to work in partnership to ensure all relevant immigration issues are resolved.
