Fail-to-remain crash on Livingstone leads to canine search at Springwater Park

One person arrested at the Midhurst park and charged with theft over $5,000; Police believe the second suspect got a ride from someone

There was a heavy police presence along Wilson Drive between Snow Valley Road on Sunday that led to an arrest of one man and the ongoing search for another.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Sunday, police say a car struck a fence on Livingstone Street West and the driver fled the scene.

OPP officers located the car on Wilson Drive after the male driver abandoned the vehicle and ran into Springwater Park.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said while the OPP handled the Springwater Park portion of the search, Barrie officers were investigating the failure-to-remain.

“OPP conducted a canine track and located a male who was the driver of the vehicle and they charged him for theft over $5,000,” he said.

“There was a second male that the OPP canine were searching for and it is believed he may have received a ride out of the area of the park," Leon added.
