Barrie police officers were conducting RIDE spot check in area of Essa Road and Highway 400.
A vehicle was stopped and the male driver was observed to have bloodshot eyes and an odour of alcohol on his breath.
The driver admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving.
He failed a roadside screening test and was placed under arrest.
The male driver was then transported to the Barrie Police station and provided breath samples resulting in over 80 and Impaired driving charges.
He has a future court date in January 2017.
