NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE
*************************
In response to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Kings Highway 400 in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, South Simcoe Police have been working with our partners from the Ontario Provincial Police, Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Town of Innisfil and the County of Simcoe to develop an Emergency Detour Route for the afternoon rush-hour on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Highway 400 will be closed northbound at County Road 88 and southbound at County Road 89 for an undetermined period of time.

Officers from South Simcoe Police and the OPP are forcing northbound 400 traffic off at County Road 88. Beginning at 3 p.m., with the assistance of point duty officers, passenger vehicles will be encouraged to proceed either west to the 5th Side Road, or east to the 10th Side Road and proceed northbound on those roadways until they reach County Road 89. At County Road 89, traffic will be directed back to Highway 400 northbound.

The reverse routes apply to southbound traffic, but our primary concern this afternoon is to facilitate northbound traffic.

Commercial Motor Vehicles will be encouraged to use either County Road 27 or the 10th Side Road as an alternate route. The 5th Side Road is not recommended for heavy trucks.

Yonge Street also remains an option for rush-hour traffic, but police will not be on point duty at intersections along this roadway to facilitate the movement of traffic.

Drivers on all northbound routes can expect delays this afternoon. Police are asking for drivers to be patient and follow the instructions of point duty officers.

Inquiries regarding the fatal motor vehicle collision which lead to this closure should be directed to the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
