ORO-MEDONTE - On Wednesday Sept. 13, 2017 at 11:42 p.m., Barrie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 12 between Town Line and Coldwater Road in the Township of Oro-Medonte.
Upon arrival it was determined that a white 2013 Mazda 3 struck a bear. The air bags had deployed in the vehicle and the bear was killed on impact and was later removed. The female driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The Barrie OPP would like to remind the driving public to be aware that there are wild animals in the Oro-Medonte area that cross our roadways while on their journeys. Please keep this in mind, and be vigilant while driving in order to avoid collisions.
