Driver refuses to stop, gets charged with impaired

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016 just before 1 a.m., police observed a pick-up truck leaving an adult establishment on Dunlop Street in the City of Barrie before exiting southbound on Highway 400.

The vehicle began drifting within its lane of travel and crossing into another lane.

The vehicle continued to travel southbound while straddling lanes of the 400 Highway.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, although the driver refused to stop and continued travelling southbound and eventually exiting at Innisfil Beach Road in the town of Innisfil.

A second attempt was made to stop the vehicle safely, although the driver refused to stop and continued to travel northbound on the 5th Side Road.

The vehicle then turned into the parking lot of Georgian Downs Casino and eventually stopped.

A 44-year-old Bradford male was arrested for impaired driving and flight from police.

He was transported to the Barrie Police station and provided breath samples.

He has been charged with impaired driving, over 80 and flight from police.

A 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was issued.

He will appear in a Barrie court in April.
