South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a drug store in Innisfil after a transport truck hit the building.

The collision occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020 at the store on Innisfil Beach Road and Jans Boulevard.

A transport with a 52-foot trailer was attempting to turn around behind the store in order to make a delivery. During the U-turn, the trailer backed into a wall causing approximately $100,000 in structural damage.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service was also called and attended to check the structure. An engineer was scheduled to attend on Dec. 30, 2020 to assess the damage and determine whether the store can reopen while the structure is repaired.

Another transport truck crashed into a wall at the same store on Dec. 3, 2020. Fortunately, no one was injured in either crash.

The investigation determined yesterday's collision was caused by driver inexperience and parking lot conditions of packed ice and snow with large snow banks surrounding the area.
