Driver charged with impaired after rollover on Dunlop St.

Vehicle was westbound on Dunlop in downtown Barrie when it struck a parked car, flipped and came to rest on its roof, says police official

A single-vehicle rollover Tuesday night in downtown Barrie has led to several charges, including impaired driving, for a 23-year-old local man.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said officers responded the call Tuesday at 7:51 p.m. 

A vehicle travelling westbound on Dunlop Street East, near Mulcaster, when it struck a parked car and flipped over, coming to rest on its roof, he said.

Leon said the suspect initially fled the scene on foot, but returned a short time later.

No serious injuries were reported.

A 23-year-old Barrie man was arrested and has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80 milligrams, and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He was released with a future court date.
